We would love to tell you more about what it’s like to work here.ASAP - March 31, 2023 Job PurposeThe Senior Network Engineer is a role that functions independently and as a colleague's coach reporting to the Manager of Network Engineering and Operations. This role will analyze and make changes to on-premises and cloud-based network-related infrastructure, including but not limited to network equipment (Routers, L2/L3 Switches, Firewalls, Load Balancers, Servers, Proxy Servers, etc.). The incumbent works with Managed Service Providers (MSPs), External Service Providers, and vendors to design, install, implement, and maintain the company's networking infrastructure and technologies. They may also participate in rotational on-call support, including weekends. Finally, as a Network Engineer, you will be a critical consulting resource to other areas of Technology and a sought-after network expert partner. On any given day, you could be working individually or with a team of Technical Staff (e.g., Architects and Engineers), Managers, Directors, and Business Stakeholders on various on-premises or cloud-based networking projects or initiatives. The incumbent will troubleshoot complex networking issues, document the existing infrastructure and any physical and logical changes in the network and systems topology and components, and collaborate with the MSPs to meet the business and technical objectives. Off-hours activities and support are required for some implementations and changes to the networking technologies.

Main Activities

  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructure, including on-premises systems and cloud networking solutions
  • Evaluating user and project requirements and designing system architecture and parameters.
  • Maximizing network performance by monitoring activity, troubleshooting, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating with impacted stakeholders during a change window.

  • Attending workshops and on-the-job technical training sessions
  • Day-to-day administration, monitoring, and support of networking gears and Azure networking components, as well as after-hours on-call support (rotational) to deal with issues as they arise
  • Provide guidance and act as an escalation point for network analysis and issuesAnalyzing, designing, and implementing Azure VNets/Subnets/UDRs.
  • Managing Azure ExpressRoute Circuits
  • Maintenance of all network devices and services using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and adherence to required Service Level Agreements
  • Technical representative on projects from a networking perspective
  • Ensuring IT policies and procedure checks are being met for a clean audit report
  • Working with IT Security Engineers and Managers to Remediate network-related security vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborating with vendors and MSPs to manage EQB's WAN/Internet links

Education Requirements

  • Computer Network Engineering or related Bachelor's degree (Master's degree in Computer Network Engineering most preferred)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Enterprise Core Networking and 3+ years of Microsoft Azure Networking design and operation

  • Microsoft Azure Networking - UDR-based & Azure VWAN-based Hub & Spoke topology – Azure L4 & L7 Load Balancers and Application gateways and Global Load Balancer
  • WAN links, MPLS & Internet connectivity methods
  • VPN / LAN / WAN troubleshooting
  • VMWare Networking
  • Cisco UCS Blade Chassis networking
  • Cisco IOS, Nexus, IOS-XE
  • Cisco ISE and Aruba ClearPass management for AAA purposes
  • Cisco Meraki Access Points (APs) management 
  • Firewalls (including Cisco Firepower, SonicWall, CheckPoint, PaloAlto, and Azure Firewall)
  • AKS Networking
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Azure Administration in general and Networking, specifically
  • Ability to administer:
  • Microsoft Windows Server OS, Features, and Services
  • Linux / AIX issues
  • Experience in PowerShell or CLI scripting to automate network administration tasks
  • Understanding of IT/Networking security best practices

  • Arista Cloud WiFi AP Administration
  • DevOps experience
  • Working knowledge of Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS), Docker, and Containerized applications
  • Experience running workloads securely in public clouds
  • Strong track record of implementing cloud services in a variety of distributed computing environments
  • Knowledge of some or all of JBoss, Apache, Tomcat, Storage systems, SAN, VMware vSphere
