The opportunity:

    • Due to significant demand for our expertise, we are looking for a Manager to support this exciting period of growth for our team.  In addition to bringing your own experience and insight, you will have the opportunity to broaden your expertise and profile through a range of interesting projects and with a wide set of clients across the financial sector.
    • We are looking for candidates who have significant experience in a financial services risk, compliance or regulatory role and have experience of advising on, or practical implementation of: core regulations and principles impacting financial services firms and their products and services and risk and compliance frameworks, risk management and associated methodologies.

Day to day you will:

    • Work as part of the team and as a member of the wider advisory and consulting functions, you will lead projects and engagement teams, advising financial services clients on:
    • The impact of evolving regulation on their business models, clients, propositions, brands and markets and supporting them on their journey through that change;
    • Practical, proportionate, best practice approaches to risk and compliance management and mitigation;
    • Risk and compliance oversight, systems and controls, reporting management information, risk management frameworks, policies and procedures and the embedding of risk culture throughout the product lifecycle and from the board through to the business.
    • Lead client projects and manage day-to-day client relationships including; structuring engagements and work plans, client engagement, overseeing junior team members and taking responsibility for project team leadership and direction, budget management and deliverables.
    • Build the reputation of KPMG through the quality of your work, expertise and judgement as well as innovative approaches.

What you’ll bring to our team:

    • Detailed knowledge of at least one core financial services industry: retail banking, insurance, financial advice/wealth.
    • Previous experience in an area that supports compliance, which could span from customer-facing to product teams, governance, regulation or dealing directly with conduct issues or responding to requirements of key regulators.
    • You may have a Law degree but equally may have practical experience from involvement in regulatory or compliance functions.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with executives and directors, build relationships and develop customer-centric strategies.
    • Ability to identify key conduct and compliance issues and translate broad principles into clear actions and outputs for a business.
    • Oral and written communication is a key strength along with planning, project management, relationship building, networking and influencing skills
    • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and enjoy variety and change.
    • Attention to detail and an enquiring mind to get the facts and identify potential issues
    • Experience leading teams and delivering end to end project management.
    • Positive and flexible attitude and an enthusiasm to embrace new challenges and growth opportunities to gain experience.
    • Flexibility to work across New Zealand (and internationally) where required
