The team proactively help clients to deliver their strategic objectives whilst reducing financial, reputational, operational, and other risks. The team offers the opportunity to work with a talented group of colleagues with a breadth of experience and a range of subject matter expertise. The team bring creative solutions to our client’s most critical risk challenges and transformational projects at a time of unprecedented focus on the risk agenda in the financial services industry in New Zealand and globally.

The opportunity:

    • Due to significant demand for our services, we're looking for an Advisor / Senior Advisor to join our Financial Risk Management team.
    • You will be involved in a wide variety of capital, regulatory reporting or model-related engagements across the financial services sector and large corporates. This could include advise clients on risk measurement and management, regulatory compliance, and model risk management.

Day to day you will:

    • Work on multiple engagements and support engagement managers to help clients improve their quantitative risk management practices and regulatory compliance. 
    • Develop strong relationships with clients in financial services and corporates where your voice will be heard through direct contact with management, executives and Board members.
    • Apply an awareness and understanding of the general business and economic environments in undertaking engagements.
    • Produce clear and well-presented information/reports.

What you'll bring to the team:

    • 2+ years of experience in a financial risk or model-related role within a professional services firm, financial services organisation or a large corporate.
    • Relevant qualification in Statistics, Mathematics, Banking, Risk Management or another quantitative field.
    • Good modelling skills - experience with either SQL, R, or VBA.
    • Ability to provide insights and recommendations in a succinct and professional manner that our clients understand.
    • A strong attention to detail, numerical aptitude and the ability to see issues from a wider perspective.
    • A high level of self-motivation, energy and drive.
    • Collaborative and inclusive with an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
    • Ideally some experience of presenting to senior people and proving an opinion, contributing to a written report or verbally in a forum.
    • CFA/FRM qualification (or currently pursuing) and a good understanding of RBNZ prudential requirements would be advantageous.
