Software Engineer - On-device development

Working within the Platform Foundation department, you will be part of a team developing our 2.0 platform for TV devices, getting involved with devices and requirements as TV partners engage with DAZN. You will own the development, testing, deployment, and monitoring of our services end to end and build and design features collaboratively with Product Managers, and other Software Engineers.We are now mostly a remote team, with only occasional office visits (post-covid) so we can get together, socialize, and meet other people in the flesh. On average we would expect teams to meet up a few times a month.Your teamTeams are typically made up of around 4-8 Engineers, a Product Manager, Scrum Master, and an Engineering Manager supported by a Principal Engineer.We work using Agile and XP practices such as Scrum and Kanban. Aside from the day to day work you will be part of refinement, planning retros and helping both your team and DAZN be a wonderful place to work, our culture is especially important to us, and we want everyone to help define and drive it.The team you will be joining is currently in charge of the migration of the DAZN app from a legacy codebase to a new one, that runs on various devices such as PS5, LG TV’s, Samsung TV’s, Xbox and so on. Later, the team will focus more on a developer experience / enablement mission.Tech stack: Vanilla JS, Node.JS, Vanilla Typescript, GitHub Actions, Terraform, AWS.

As our new Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:

• Contribute to the DAZN app and tooling
• Own the development, testing, deployment, and monitoring of our services end to end
• Work on our release process and pipeline with the other engineers to make continuous improvements using automation
• Work closely with stakeholders outside the team to manage releases
• Work with a variety of living room devices (TV's, set-top boxes, consoles)
• Contribute to the roadmap of the team

You’ll be set up for success if you have:

• Strong knowledge of modern JavaScript, including Node.js
• Willingness to do on-device development. Not always but often, you will also have to test your code on an actual device, like a PS5
• Willingness to explore per devices SDKs, either via specific documentation, per-platform debugging or communication with an external partner
• Experience in developing applications using Vanilla JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, HTML5
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines or willingness to learn
• Willingness to learn Terraform, AWS

Even better if you have:

• JavaScript or HTML5 development experience on TV’s, set top boxes, game consoles
• Expertise with specific TV or game console SDKs: webOS, Tizen, PlayStation etc.
• Knowledge about STB / HWA development in general
• Expertise working with CI/CD pipelines
