Join us.Who we are looking for:Optiv is currently looking for a Security Consultant (Data Governance & Protection) to join our team. This team is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining solutions to protect customer data and identity platforms. This position demands in-depth experience in Data Access Governance technology.  

How you will make an impact:

    • Implement strategic data governance capabilities by working with business and technology partners to document requirements and create action plans.
    • Implement and support Enterprise Data Management policies, standards and technology. Execute processes and procedures to support data standards and control frameworks.
    • Assist in data governance efforts that span across platforms and business/technology areas to address enterprise data needs.
    • Implement strategic data governance capabilities by working with business and technology partners to document requirements and create action plans.
    • Perform oversight and inspection of critical data management practices for adherence to established data policies and control frameworks.
    • Provide thought leadership and participate with projects that involve any of the upstream or downstream data flows and processes.
    • Ensure controls are in place across applications to ensure the data integrity
    • Support the production of metrics and measures to track progress and adherence, escalating as needed to various committees for visibility and program accountability.
    • Maintain awareness of relevant regulations, industry trends and emerging technologies.
    • Collaborate closely with peer teams to ensure coordination, synergy and seamless overall execution.
    • Identify and advocate for improvements in enterprise data management practices.

Qualifications for success:

    • Strong understanding of data governance technology, preferably certification in any or all of the following: Varonis, Stealthbits (Netwrix). Big ID, SailPoint File Access Manager.
    • Strong analytical and time management skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Intermediate facilitation skills with the ability to drive issues to closure.
    • Self-motivated and able to handle tasks with minimal supervision or questions.
    • Ability to deliver a high level of customer service.
    • Ability to write various documents such as functional requirements, risk assessments, reference guides, etc.
    • Ability to compare technologies and make recommendations to senior members of the team.
    • Understanding of privacy laws and regulations.
    • Basic level proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL).
    • Experience with cloud or cloud native platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google
    • Basic level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Project, and Outlook.
    • Foster company success through a professional appearance, being courteous to customers with positive attitude.
    • Knowledge of industry leading data protection management practices
    • Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
    • Have proven experience in implementing a data governance model at various levels within an organization

Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s or higher degree or its equivalent in certifications or work experience - with a preference in STEM, Computer Science, Cyber Security, etc
    • 4+ years data governance, data protection, or similar level experience required.
    • Experience in technology, data management, governance, risk or related practice or equivalent education and related training or experience
    • Preferred industry certifications: Varonis, Stealthbits, Big ID, OneTrust, SailPoint File Access Manager
    • Strong analytical skills; Business and/or data analysis experience
    • Effective communication skills and ability to liaison between business and technology partners
    • Internal or external consulting experience
    • Experience with formalized data security risk assessment practices (e.g. Capability Maturity Model), including implementation of recommended improvements
    • Knowledge of data tools and platforms used for managing, storing, querying, testing, loading and transforming data
