THE ROLE: DAZN is looking for a Principal OSS developer to join our global OSS engineering team, principally to work on development of our Dataminer based control and service orchestration platforms. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced dataminer developer, architect, and engineer to take the lead role in development of DAZN’s road to service automation. You will be building and maintaining monitoring and control systems that support the live video platform, working with and leading a team of developers and engineers. You will liaise with internal stakeholders to define requirements, create roadmaps, define solutions and ensure technical documentation and training meets the wider business needs. As the DAZN business scales the orchestration and automation of our broadcast environments is critical to the success of the business, driving operational efficiency, scalability of infrastructure in a cost effective manor while driving service excellence and customer satisfaction. You must be passionate about new and upcoming technologies for live television and using your skills and knowledge to deliver projects on time to a high standard. You’ll be working on high profile technical projects such transition to IP and cloud services, resource automation and live service orchestration.  You must also have at least 5yrs hands on experience implementing Skyline’s Dataminer product at another broadcaster or related business environment.  Ideally with experience of managing and leading a team of dataminer developers delivering projects against tight deadlines along with demonstrable development skills in the required languages.

As our new Principal OSS Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to:

    • Lead the development of monitoring and control systems – planning for scale and future growth
    • Lead the design and development of a resource automation solutions.
    • Ensure the system scales to meet demands and allows the teams frictionless interaction with broadcast systems.
    • Manage the team’s workload to stay ahead of BAU requirements while delivering on projects
    • Be DAZN’s SME for broadcast automation ambitions using Dataminer
    • Working with stakeholders to define and create requirements.
    • Writing and delivering user training
    • Assisting the wider engineering team with project implementation                                          

You'll have:

    • At least 5 years as a Dataminer lead at similar business.
    • A background in software engineering, scripting, and coding with experience coding in C# for .NET Framework and .NET Core
    • Excellent communicator, able to articulate complex scenarios to both technical and non technical audiences
    • Experience leading a team of Dataminer developers
    • Extensive knowledge and experience of multivendor monitoring/control platforms
    • Experience and understanding of live broadcast workflows and architectures
    • Experience of IP video on multicast networks – for example, IGMP, RTP flows
    • Experience with user interface design.
