Software Engineer - Living Room Devices - Playback (Amsterdam/remote)

Working within the Living Room department, you will be part of a team developing our 2.0 platform for TV devices, getting involved with devices and requirements as TV partners engage with DAZN. You will own the development, testing, deployment and monitoring of our services end to end and build and design features collaboratively with Product Managers, and other Software Engineers.We are now mostly a remote team, with only occasional office visits (post-covid) so we can get together, socialize, and meet other people in the flesh. On average we would expect teams to meet up a few times a month.Your teamTeams are typically made up of around 4-8 Engineers, a Product Manager, Scrum Master and an Engineering Manager supported by a Principal Engineers.We work using Agile and XP practices such as Scrum and Kanban. Aside from the day to day work you will be part of refinement, planning retros and helping both your team and DAZN be a great place to work, our culture is very important to us, and we want everyone to help define and drive it.The team you will be joining is currently in charge of the playback that is the main component of the TV app and help create the DAZN App that runs on various devices such as PS5, LG TV’s, Samsung TV’s, Xbox and so on. As our new Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:

• Contribute to the playback function of our application, which is the core function of the app.
• Own the development, testing, deployment and monitoring of our services end to end.
• Work on our release process and pipeline with the other engineers to make continuous improvements using automation.
• Work closely with stakeholders outside the team to manage releases.
• Work with a variety of living room devices (TV's, set-top boxes, consoles).
• Contribute to the roadmap of the team.

You will be set up for success if you have:

• Strong knowledge of modern JavaScript, including Node.js.
• Willingness to do on-device development. Given a playback feature, you will also have to test it on an actual device, like a PS5.
• Willingness to explore per devices playback APIs, either via specific documentation, per-platform debugging or communication with external partner.
• Familiarity in developing applications using Vanilla JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, HTML5.
• Familiarity working with CI/CD pipelines or willingness to learn.

Even better if you have:

• JavaScript or HTML5 development experience on TV’s, set top boxes, consoles.
• Experience with specific TV or console playback API: webOS Luna, Tizen AvPlay, Playstation WebMAF etc. Knowledge about OTT playback in general.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines.
