General Ledger Accountant

Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.Your future teamWe're hiring a General Ledger Accountant, reporting to the Senior Manager of General Ledger.This is a remote role and you will be a member of the Corporate and International accounting team at Atlassian which looks after the general ledger and running the month end close process, our work includes most general ledger accounts except revenue and tax. You will work with several members of the accounting team in addition to working with FP&A to meet monthly deliverables. You will also communicate with the external accountants and auditors to ensure that all accounting compliance matters are up to date.You enjoy numbers and have 2+ years experience in an accounting role in a multinational company or audit firm (preferably in a public company environment subject to SOX). Prior exposure to balance sheet reconciliations and accruals is a bonus. We’d love for you to have experience using Oracle Fusion or another equivalent system (e.g., SAP, Netsuite) and have intermediate experience in Excel. Finally, you enjoy working with other departments/functions to ensure accurate and timely financial accounting.

What you'll do

• Manila work hours match Australian hours and start at 9am AEST (6am Manila)
• Responsible for R&D and COGS functional expenses, and other areas as assigned.
• Have a understanding of month end accruals
• Perform accurate reporting and reconciliation for assigned areas following our monthly close schedule.
• Work with Accounts Payable and Procurement on coding questions (department, account, amortization period).
• Perform daily and end of month reconciliations and book journal entries to the general ledger.
• Develop knowledge of and work with FP&A, Technical Accounting, Payroll, Accounts Payable and partners
• Field audit requests: preparing supporting documentation and resolving questions from external auditors.
• Resolve accounting issues, and help apply US GAAP and PFRS accounting policies for assigned areas.
• Partner with the team to improve system automation to help scale accounting operations.
• Collaborate with the team to improve system automation in and effort to help scale accounting operations and help with other projects to support the operations accounting team

Your background

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• CPA and Big 4 accounting experience is preferred
• 2 to 3 years of public accounting and/or industry experience (preferably in a environment subject to SOX) or you are an experienced certified accountant in a global, BPO or shared services company
• Experience with Oracle Fusion or another equivalent system (e.g., SAP, Netsuite).
• Knowledge and use of Microsoft excel (can perform complex functions)
• Experience in GL accounting including preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries
