Austin, United StatesAustinTexasUnited StatesNorth AmericaMay 5, 2024

Working at AtlassianAtlassian can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Assuming you have eligible working rights and a sufficient time zone overlap with your team, you can choose to work remotely or return to an office as they reopen (unless it’s necessary for your role to be performed in the office). Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company. As a Software Engineer, focused on building information visualizations on our Economy Engineering team, you’ll be responsible for delivering new and creative ways of solving information problems to help the business make decisions. As a visualization engineer, you would use your data skills to connect to big data sources, parse through raw data, scrub out key attributes, and present them in a cognitively accessible way to the rest of the business. The best person for this role is someone that has a curious mind - who isn’t afraid to ask questions, learn new things and be humble to data - listen to it even when it disproves their own point of view. This person would also have a collaborative spirit - work with people from very different backgrounds, and be able to communicate difficult concepts to others. The team needs someone who can ask questions, continuously keep learning, and learn from others.

On our first day, we’ll expect you to have:

    • Skills in Python and OOP programming skills
    • Some experience with SQL, ReactJS and HTML/CSS
    • Understanding of Python Data stack: pandas, scikit-learn and more
    • Experience in building RESTful APIs and micro-services.
    • Debugging skills
    • Understanding of version control systems (Git).

It's great, but not required, if you have:

    • Understanding of basic statistical concepts (like Confidence Intervals) and statistical tests for experiments & trials.
    • General skills or experience with key visualization libraries, both browser-based (like eCharts), or language-based (Plotly, Bokeh, ggplot)
    • Experience with architecting services on top of cloud engineering services and micro-services
    • Basic understanding of Linux systems but great command line skills (BASH like environment)
    • Understanding of sre, devops technologies like Docker, Kubernetes
We are a growing team within the Economy organization with close partnership with product teams, working to inform key business decisions through data and experimentation. Atlassian has a huge data informed culture and you will play a critical role in achieving key business objectives by instrumenting ideas into experiments and influencing choices made by the business. You will work closely with the web developers on the team supporting the development workflow to help them iterate rapidly while keeping reliable measurement as your north star. Our perks & benefitsTo support you at work and play, our perks and benefits include ample time off, an annual education budget, paid volunteer days, and so much more.About AtlassianThe world’s best teams work better together with Atlassian. From medicine and space travel, to disaster response and pizza deliveries, Atlassian software products help teams all over the planet.
