Cyber Tools Engineer (SECRET)

Candidates MUST have an active Secret clearance for consideration. A Top Secret is preferred; candidates with a Secret will be sponsored for a TS/SCI. This position is onsite at MacDill AFB. 

The Contractor shall provide Cyber Tools Engineering services which supports and manages products, data, and information to identify trends and patterns, anomalous activity, provide situational awareness of government networks, missions, and threats, and provide operational recommendations, visualizations, tuning requests, and custom signature deployment to the Cybersecurity Operations Cell (CSOC) and other internal and external stakeholders.

This position is 100% onsite with our Government customer in Tampa, FL.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Work with both corporate and customer leadership to research, analyze, and implement enterprise-wide network security solutions/capabilities/enhancements to support customer business/mission goals and objectives.

  • Assist with design, analysis, testing and implementation of state-of-the-art secure network architectures.

  • Conduct risk assessment and provide recommendations for design.

  • Oversee security infrastructure sustainment, maintenance, and advanced configuration. (SIEMs, IDS/IPS, EDR and management tools).

  • Deploy Snort and YARA rules as necessary. 

  • Oversee the reporting, documentation, and investigation of all security related incidents; lead the development and implementation of corrective measures.

  • Develop and execute standard operating procedures (SOPs) for security tools.

  • Evaluate and report on new network Security technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.

  •  Act as liaison to the contract and customer management, and government Designated Approving Authority (DAA) regarding network security status, policies, and procedures.

Position Requirements:

  • Active Secret clearance or higher
  • Familiarity with Unix, RHEL, Python Scripting
  • Experience with IDS/IPS Products
  • Strong familiarity with SNORT signatures and YARA rules.
  • Detail-oriented and who are willing to collaborate with others.

  • Excellent research and problem-solving skills
  • Deep proficiency in client and server operating systems including Windows, Mac, and Linux
  • General networking and security troubleshooting (firewalls, routing, NAT, etc.)
  • Scripting and development skills (BASH, Perl, Python or Java) with strong knowledge of regular expressions
  • Ability to autonomously prioritize and successfully deliver across a portfolio of projects
  • Must possess an active DoD 8570-compliant cyber certification at IAT Level II or better

Preferred Requirements:

  • Familiar with Configuration and Administration with Enterprise SIEM (Splunk / ArcSight / Elastic) and experience in the Integration of multiple SIEM tools into a Single Architecture 
  • Working Knowledge of Operating System Auditing (both Syslog and Window Event Log) preferred 
  • An understanding of cyber-based threat techniques and procedures to compare industry related events, exposures, and incidents with open source and gathered intelligence research to determine threat capability and intent, and the potential impact of the threat on customer network architecture and operations 
  • Experience with SIEM architecture, implementation, and troubleshooting experience
  • Proficiency developing log ingestion and aggregation strategies
  • Experience authoring security runbooks, policies
