Duties & Role:

The contracted individual must be able to perform effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision. The contracted individual will be asked to support the development of one or more technical deliverables and/or provide exercise support in execution of projects undertaken within the 2023 calendar year.

Progress review meetings shall be held regularly, at least once per week, with the NCI Agency task leads.

Main duties will be as follows:

  • Configure firewalls, routers, switches, network proxies, VPN concentrators to maximise network efficiency and security according NCSC Operational needs.
  • Support the Initiation, preparation, follow-up and defence of any specialist applications upgrades in front of the Change Management Board
  • The configuration and deployment of vulnerability assessments (e.g. Tenable Nessus), computer forensics (e.g. AccessData) tools
  • The configuration, tuning and deployment of monitoring tools/appliances and incidence response tools such as RSA Netwitness, Splunk
  • Configuration and deployment of virtualization technologies (e.g. VMWare NSX-T)
  • Implement security settings relating to any of Cisco, Juniper, Linux, Unix, Microsoft operating systems
  • Maximise network performance and availability through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting by using networking experience and management applications
  • Efficiently investigate faults in the network and propose improvements.

Requirements

Skill, Knowledge & Experience:

  • The candidate must have a currently active NATO COSMIC TOP SECRET security clearance
  • Background in Cyber Security with extensive experience (at least 10 years) in implementing state of the art technology within the Cyber Security domain ideally in international, governmental or military environments
  • Proven experience in strategic architecture and design of cyber security capabilities
  • Proven experience of modern cyber security methodologies such as Mitre Att&ck
  • Comprehensive understanding of the principles of Computer and Communication Security, networking, and the vulnerabilities of modern operating systems and applications acquired through a blend of academic or professional training coupled with practical professional experience
  • Desirable to hold a professional certification in Cyber Security Incident Handling, and/or IT Service Management, and/or Project Management
  • Excellent communications skills and reporting experience with capacity to communicate to different types of audience (senior executive, middle management, technical and non-technical)
  • Solid knowledge of cyber security tools and their configuration, including configuration and integration of boundary protection components (e.g. firewalls, NIPs, HIPs, diodes), encryption, identity and access management, monitoring and detection, incidence response, vulnerability assessments, computer forensics and risk management.
  • Knowledge and recent/relevant experience in the following technologies: Juniper and Palo Alto, web application proxy, RSA Netwitness, Splunk, Tenable Nessus, AccessData.
  • Design and configuration of various IT infrastructure elements within projects.
  • Experience in routing and switching and virtualization technologies (e.g.,VMWare).
