Associate Director, Security Services (High Risk Managed Services)

The Associate Director (AD) will be responsible for the business growth of Control Risks’ in-sourced security services in Mexico. These services will include: protected mobility, journey management, site/static security, convoy security and ops room services.

The AD’s aim, in close coordination with our consultancy services team in Mexico, will be to firmly establish Control Risks as the provider of first choice to a wide variety of clients for security services on all parts of the threat spectrum.

Tasks and responsibilities

  1. In close coordination with head of CSC Mexico, conduct proactive business development to encourage current and future clients to allow Control Risks to tender for their higher-threat security services.
  2. Foster an innovative approach to BD in order to expand our offering to hitherto unknown or less-scrutinized sectors.
  3. Grow our security ‘capacity’ by identifying sources of staff, equipment, vehicles, suppliers and office space
  4. Prepare to oversee and lead on a project to in-source the new Control Risks security operations center, Mexico, including the staff, technology, infrastructure and procedural components
  5. Seek to establish an ‘anchor client’ whereby an initial contract can be delivered which will establish our market presence in order to build a firm operational, reputational and financial base from which to expand.
  6. Coordinate closely with HRMS global staff on technical, fleet, training, compliance and quality assurance matters.
  7. Coordinate with the Control Risks Global Risk Analysis (GRA) and Data Analytics teams to ensure that effective intelligence gathering and analysis is at the core of our offering.
  8. Lead on the mobilization and training components of new security projects.
  9. Exercise oversight and management level assurance of ongoing security projects, including regular liaison with clients’ security managers. This will require a sound knowledge of security standard operating procedures, fleet management, training, ops room procedures, equipment, compliance, HR, assurance and quality control.
  10. Act as line manager to project level security managers if required.

Requirements

Knowledge and experience

  • Senior management experience in the security industry, either as a client or as a services provider.
  • Knowledge of the security landscape in Mexico
  • Knowledge of the wider security sector including a variety of threat environments, methods, practices, procedures and technologies.
  • Expertise in business development, proposal drafting and submission, client management, key stakeholder engagement.
  • Line management experience.
  • Oil and Gas project related experience desired.
  • Qualifications or experience in quality assurance and compliance desired.
  • Previous military, police or security services experience desired.
  • Knowledge of communications systems, tracking systems, fleet management, logistics and training desired.

Qualifications and specialist skills

  • Fluency in English (verbal and written).
  • Competent spoken and written Spanish.
  • A professional qualification, bachelor’s or master’s degree from a recognized higher education institution or an equivalent from a police or military staff college.
