What you’ll be doing:

• Joining a team of engineers dedicated to implementing our zero-trust strategy: Trusted Device Access

• Building out the next generation of authorization platform capabilities at Cruise to ensure only trusted devices can access our apps and infrastructure

• Building tools and primitives to enable other engineers at Cruise to integrate robust authentication into their applications

• Creating delightful user experiences and interactions with well-integrated security tooling

• Building automation to make security more accessible for end users while leveraging open source technologies and configuration management tooling

What you must have:

• Strong understanding of security architecture and its implementation, especially in the domains of identity, authorization, and endpoint security
• Experience writing performant, maintainable, testable code in at least one of the following: Go, Rust, Python, or Node.js
• You have experience designing and/or operating a production-level service
• You have experience using infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g. Terraform)
• You have experience working with modern development and deployment workflows (containerization, container orchestration, CI/CD, etc.)
• You have a solid understanding of public-key cryptography and cryptographic protocols/primitives

Bonus Points: 

Contributions to community projects (open source, public research, blogging,

• presentations, etc)
• Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Familiarity with network protocol internals (e.g. TCP, HTTP, WSS, and SSH)
• Experience with PKI, Authentication, Authorization, Federation, or Identity Management.
• Experience with protocols such as OAuth 2.0, SAML, SCIM, and OpenID Connect.
• Industry experience with projects such as Envoy or OPA
• Able to move fast in an environment where projects are sometimes loosely defined and may have competing priorities or deadlines
• Passionate about self-driving technology and its potential impact on the world

The salary range for this position is $168,000 - $247,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
