Project Manager (Cybersecurity)

IT Concepts is looking for an experienced Project Manager with an IT/Cybersecurity background, preferably with the knowledge of the energy sector, to provide support in various activities to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The primary objective of this requirement is to engage a qualified project manager to provide essential support to CESER in fulfilling its mission of developing and deploying tools and technologies to address growing risks to U.S. energy infrastructure. The project manager will contribute through active participation in meetings, offering guidance and recommendations to improve cybersecurity and resilience efforts across the energy sector. The selected candidate will also collaborate with applied energy and science offices to ensure that cybersecurity and resilience are integrated into their research, development, and deployment initiatives. Additionally, the project manager will be involved in cross-cutting cyber research, development, and deployment activities.

Location: This position is Hybrid with work onsite in DOE offices in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate projects related to the development and deployment of tools and technologies to mitigate risks to the energy sector.
  • Assist with developing project plans, schedules, and budgets in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure timely completion of project deliverables and adherence to quality standards.
  • Provide regular project status updates to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about the latest trends, threats, and advancements in IT/Cybersecurity, particularly within the energy sector.
  • Provide expert advice and recommendations to CESER leadership and stakeholders regarding cybersecurity and resilience measures.
  • Assist in the development of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Actively participate in meetings, workshops, conferences, and collaborative sessions related to energy sector cybersecurity, resilience, and risk management.
  • Facilitate communication and information sharing between CESER and its partners.
  • Support CESER in interagency working groups and initiatives related to energy sector resilience and cybersecurity.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and research institutions, to gather requirements and foster collaboration.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience, preferably in the energy sector or related industries.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT/Cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies.
  • Familiarity with energy sector operations, including power generation, transmission, and distribution.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, develop innovative solutions, and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Subject matter expert in IT/Cybersecurity, with a strong understanding of energy sector operations.
  • US Citizen, located in commuting distance to work location.

Clearance:

Must be able to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
