Product Manager, Privacy Engineering

Description

As a founding Product Manager for Privacy Engineering, you will be responsible for leading the development of privacy-focused products and features that promote Privacy by Design principles and ensure compliance with various regulatory and industry privacy standards. You will work closely with software engineers, data scientists, legal experts, privacy office and various privacy working groups to own & prioritize Verily’s privacy product roadmap and partner closely with your engineering counterpart to deliver such prioritized features. 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate and co-create effective product strategies:Work with the Privacy Working Groups (PWGs), Privacy Office, Data Security & Product Development stakeholders to establish a north-star for the Privacy program and translate it into an actionable multi-quarter roadmap. 
  • Collaborate with leaders across software engineering, data scientists, legal experts and the privacy office to define and prioritize the privacy product release plans based on business priorities, customer feedback and market trends.
  • Partner to effectively launch & ensure product adoption: Manage the product development lifecycle, from ideation to release, ensuring that all products meet regulatory compliance requirements. Work with a wide group of stakeholders to listen and ensure frequent & iterative feedback is considered from design, development and adoption of Privacy products and tools
  • Be a Privacy Product Evangelist:Communicate the value of privacy features and products to internal and external stakeholders. Foster a culture of privacy awareness and promote privacy by design principles across the organization.
  • Day to Day Scrum responsibilities: Own the release backlog, work with your Product squad to play the role of a Product Owner in an Agile Scrum setting.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in product management or privacy engineering.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with engineering, legal and compliance teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, utilizing strong attention to detail to work independently and take ownership of projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of privacy laws and regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA and other industry-specific privacy standards.
  • Strong understanding of privacy-enhancing technologies and experience implementing them in products.
  • Certifications related to privacy, such as CIPP, CIPT or CIPM, are a plus.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and product development frameworks.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $129,000-$199,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
