Personnel Security Specialist

The Personnel Security Specialist is responsible for ensuring our employee population has the proper clearance that enables them to do their work optimally and without interruption. You will compile and provide metrics, maintain internal databases, and assist in documenting personnel security issues and other actions. You’ll work closely with the Program Manager to support the long-term plans for CLEAR’s Security team and its programs.

What you'll do:

• Initiate background investigations by coordinating pre-hire document submissions
• Create temporary security files
• Request and review security documents
• Scan documents into Government database
• Review files for derogatory information
• Ensure e-QIP documents are completed properly with no gaps in employment, etc  prior to submission
• Review all cases for final pre-hire processing
• Send Background Investigation required documentation (e.g., OF-306 Declaration for Federal Employment, Electronic Questionnaire for Investigations Processing [e-QIP]) to employees for completion
• Contact employees for omissions and verification of information provided on background investigation required documentation
• Receive and scan hardcopy submitted background investigation documentation into appropriate systems for record maintenance and review
• Maintain records of fingerprint appointments
• Send additional candidate information, as appropriate, to the government  to enable performance of a pre-hire background investigation
• Receive results of pre-hire background investigation from the government in an automated dashboard tracking system
• Document and store explanations when a candidate fails to complete required background investigation documentation during the given timeframe
• Provide forms completion assistance to candidates

How you'll measure success:

• Able to apply highly technical knowledge in solving complex problems and apply law, regulation, policy and procedures to the personnel security program
• Maintain and report weekly and monthly metrics on pre-hire submissions to Security leaders
• Liaise with CLEAR employees to answer questions and be available to reconcile issues 
• Leverage previous cases and learnings to build efficient submission processes

What you're great at:

• Three years’ experience in coordinating background investigations or suitability determinations or related activities
• Experience in reviewing applicant correspondence including court documents, references, and fingerprints and rap sheets
• Experience in NACI Reviews including reviews of SF85, SF85p, OF 306 and FBI and state law enforcement vouchers and reports
• Familiarity with e-QIP and other security products. 
• Highly organized with excellent oral and written communication skills

The base salary range represents the low and high end of CLEAR’s salary range for this position. Salaries will vary depending on various factors which include, but are not limited to location, education, skills, experience and performance. The range listed is just one component of CLEAR’s total compensation package for employees and other rewards may include annual bonuses, commission, Restricted Stock Units
