GSOC Manager

Control Risks is seeking a GSOC Manager to support one of our premier clients. The GSOC Manager will play a pivotal role in leading our client’s Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) team and optimizing its function. You will act as a trusted advisor and on-the-ground, collaborating closely to develop an industry-leading security operations center program. While building strong relationships with cross-functional teams within the client environment, the GSOC Manager will ensure coordinated support and identify and mitigate risks and exposures.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the GSOC team and optimize GSOC function.
  • Act as advisor and on-the-ground partner to client stakeholders in building an industry-leading security operations center program.
  • Develop relationships with cross-functional teams within client environment to ensure quality and that coordinated support is provided by the GSOC.
  • Assist the client in identifying risks and exposures and make recommendations to mitigate those identified.
  • Oversee the creation of standard operating procedures for incident response, security operations and other required tasks within the client environment.
  • Create a standardized training program for new GSOC Operators and Shift Supervisors.
  • Manage the 24/7/365 shift schedule and ensure full shift coverage to ensure GSOC team is providing undisrupted monitoring capabilities regarding CCTV, life safety systems, access control, events, executive protectee on-site travels, and global news and/or incidents.
  • Oversee personnel tracking systems and the execution of related GSOC SOPs regarding business travelers, EP protectees and others.
  • Assist with maintaining threat assessment and management information and records.
  • Supervise compliance among GSOC team regarding the maintenance of threat assessment and management data/record-keeping.
  • Lead and respond to accidents, emergencies and any other requests for assistance to mitigate risks and take control of situations.
  • Support GSOC Shift Supervisors with operational leadership during large client events, emergency situations, VIP visits and other high priority situations.
  • Ensure consistent and accurate emergency messaging, incident reporting and communication with employees, security staff and other client stakeholders.
  • Facilitate effective dispatching and monitoring of the security guard force by the GSOC team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in history, political science, criminal justice or related fields.
  • Four-to-five years of experience working in a GSOC, Security Operations or a similar role.
  • Advanced experience in developing and implementing SOPs and building best-in-class GSOC programs.
  • Previous experience leading cross-functional or security teams in a corporate or government function. GSOC or Fusion Center experience preferred.
  • Ability to navigate a complex client operating environment with high-level client stakeholders effectively, especially during times of high stress.
  • In-depth understanding of how cross-functional security teams work with one another in corporate or government environments.
  • Experience in people and program management.
  • Strong understanding of how to use data to showcase the development of a program and how to prioritize areas of focus based upon said data.
  • Strong and effective decision maker with the ability to navigate difficult situations including those involving high-level client leadership or client employees.
  • Willingness to be on call and available to respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis.
  • Previous experience creating high-level security reports from scratch for cross-functional stakeholders, including those outside of the security organization.
  • Previous experience working alongside Executive Protection, Event, Intelligence and Travel Security teams a plus.
  • Solution-focused individual with a desire to solve problems in a complex client environment to ensure quality service is provided to pertinent stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects at any given time.
