Cybersecurity Regulations & Standards Manager

MongoDB Atlas is the premier multi-cloud database-as-a-service built and operated by the makers of MongoDB. The Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) team at MongoDB is looking for a Cybersecurity Regulations & Standards Manager to drive company engagement in cybersecurity regulation  issues that affect our cloud products and our business. MongoDB’s GRC team helps customers around the globe trust MongoDB’s Atlas and Atlas for Government products by making sure that our company adheres to some of the most stringent cybersecurity requirements across the many industries where our customers do business. 

The Cybersecurity Regulations & Standards Manager will set the strategy for MongoDB’s involvement in the development of these requirements and build relationships with peers, regulators, and external stakeholders that share a common interest in keeping the cloud ecosystem safe and secure. In this role, your responsibilities would include: attending working groups, tracking upcoming standards and regulations that may affect the business, providing subject matter expertise on cybersecurity frameworks to internal and external stakeholders, and encouraging involvement among other SMEs within the company. 

A successful candidate will be comfortable engaging with individuals across teams, companies, and industries on both technical and non-technical topics. They will be an enthusiastic advocate for MongoDB and have a deep understanding of how cybersecurity standards, regulations and frameworks affect our business and our customers.

This role is based in the Washington, DC metro area and applicants should be comfortable attending conferences in person 2-3 times per quarter. Candidates can work from home or in office.

Responsibilities

  • Attend industry meetings and conferences related to cybersecurity
  • Provide input on new and upcoming cybersecurity standards and regulations
  • Build relationships with peer companies and regulators
  • Perform research on new and upcoming cybersecurity standards and regulations
  • Collaborate with MongoDB employees across functions to encourage their involvement and get their feedback
  • Report on the impact that new cybersecurity standards and regulations will have on MongoDB
  • Set direction and strategy for areas of cybersecurity standards and regulations that MongoDB should focus on
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to different functions across MongoDB
  • Coordinate and help prepare for meetings between internal MongoDB stakeholders and external regulators and peers
  • Participate in working groups with peer organizations and provide meaningful contributions to upcoming standards and regulations that may affect MongoDB
  • Act as an advocate on behalf of MongoDB 
  • Work with MongoDB stakeholders to understand MongoDB Atlas, the underlying infrastructure, and how it is impacted by cybersecurity standards and regulations.
  • Track cybersecurity standards, regulations, and policies that may affect MongoDB
  • Develop a deep understanding of how cybersecurity standards and regulations affects MongoDB’s business

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience working on cybersecurity issues within industry working groups or 4+ years experience interpreting cybersecurity requirements and frameworks for technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Familiarity with common cybersecurity compliance frameworks like NIST CSF, NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, and PCI DSS
  • Strong ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong research and writing capabilities
  • Open to attending events and conferences within the DC metro area
  • Ability to speak up with their ideas and perspectives on new and emerging topics
  • Experience working cross-functionally and bringing individuals across teams together for a common goal

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a cybersecurity-related discipline
  • CISSP, CISA, or similar certification
