Software Engineer, Detection and Response Engineering

This opening, internally titled Senior Information Security Engineer, will be working in Appian Security Engineering on the Detection and Response Engineering team where you  will design, build and maintain security analytics capabilities that power the security monitoring and response missions.  You’ll create cloud native tooling and automation enabling our Security Operations team to conduct increasingly automated security detection and response activities.

About the job:

  • Leverage a cloud native platform to build and maintain rugged systems handling data ingestion, correlation and investigative use cases.  
  • Partner closely with security operations analysts to build an empathic understanding of desired capabilities.
  • Tune data processing pipeline performance to be dependable and performant and cost efficient.

About you:

  • 3+ years of experience as a software engineer working on security minded projects in cloud environments.
  • 3+ years experience in cloud infrastructure development environments using tools like Terraform or Cloud Formation is a plus
  • A tenacious drive to collaboratively deliver security outcomes
  • Proficiency in Golang, Python or Java
  • Value data driven decision making
  • Strong organizational skills to balance multiple concurrent projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills that prioritize clarity and empathy for the user.
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer science or equivalent experience
