Security Risk & Compliance Specialist

We are looking for a Security Risk and Compliance Specialist who will thrive on the challenge of helping our diverse teams understand and manage their security risks, delivering meaningful security initiatives to keep us ahead of the curve.You’ll be working as part of a global team across the business to improve Xero’s security risk and compliance posture. Your goal is to help us reduce the risk of security incidents and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Xero’s security controls. You will be someone who has a strong interest or understanding of security concepts, infrastructure or application development and use this to develop an understanding of practicing good security architecture.New Security Specialists will undergo an initial multi-disciplined mentoring programme with the Team Lead in preparation for conducting discrete tasks as directed by the the Senior Security Architects. As you grow your skill set, you will conduct broader aspects of work and be integral in the team's new initiatives.

What you'll bring:

  • An eagerness to delve deep into technical security aspects.
  • Great technology fundamentals covering operating systems, cloud infrastructure, coding or a mix.
  • Take ownership of problems and solve them.
  • Strong empathy for the people we're here to support.
  • Has good examples of past technology research and investigation.
  • Has previously self-taught themselves an aspect of technology.
  • Some familiarity of web services and web application development.
  • Linux/UNIX knowledge is beneficial.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS
