Snyk’s security depth is a key part of our platform, and helps power our SCA, Container, SAST and Cloud offerings.

We're looking for a leader to help us to continue to build out the Security Research  function for Snyk, and help drive the direction and execution of Snyk’s security strategy.

In this role, you’ll lead a team of researchers, engage with R&D leadership at Snyk, and collaborate with partners in industry, academia and open source communities.

You’ll spend your time leading a team responsible for:

• Identifying new and open research questions that we’re especially well equipped to tackle
• Researching and discovering vulnerabilities (0-days), conducting PoCs and participating in blog post writeups. See SourMint, Zip Slip and VS Code as an example
• Building innovative, hi-scale infrastructure for automatic vulnerabilities hunting such as our malicious package detection system 
• Providing domain guidance and expertise to other teams, and collaborating with them to enhance the security offering provided by the various Snyk products
• Working directly with leading open source maintainers to disclose new security issues and help secure their products
• Maintaining your knowledge in a specialized area of research, through engaging with the broader security community, attending meetups and conferences and reading widely
• Work alongside product and engineering leaders on key security product capabilities
• Collaborate with product marketing on sharing the team’s research and findings externally

We'd love to hear from you if you:

• Are energized by working in a dynamic, fast paced environment
• Have proven technical leadership experience in security research
• Have technical hands-on experience in cloud application security or developer security
• Enjoy building and leading research teams
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, and enjoy helping others to be successful
• Are happy to travel at least once a quarter to spend time working face-to-face with other colleagues that aren’t colocated with you

We’d especially love to hear from you if you have:

• Experience working with cutting-edge security technologies and research techniques
• Led and scaled security research teams
• Familiarity with the open source security market landscape and key technical trends
• prior experience working with cross-functional teams that are geographically distributed
