About the team

The Stripe Security team is dedicated to improving the security of Stripe and its users. Our users trust us with some of their most sensitive information, and we make security a first-class consideration in everything we do. Security concerns are ever-evolving, creating an extremely dynamic environment for the Security team. This role will reside in the Office of the CISO organization within Security. 

The Office of the CISO covers a variety of work that is both internal and external facing. It includes but is not limited to: Governance, Risk, Compliance, Advisory, Regulatory, Enterprise Sales (Go To Market), Policy, Training, Third Party Risk, and Incident Response.

What you’ll do

We need an experienced Security manager who has a diverse background in Information Security to help cover high priority / high visibility business. You are a fixer by nature and your leadership will be felt across the company. You will oversee and optimize our business enablement offering (e.g., GTM support, Data Partnerships) and act as an evangelist for representing Stripe Security. The right candidate will be adaptable and can set direction and find organization in an evolving and maturing organization. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage service areas that interface with business enablement pursuits
  • Function as an information security subject matter expert and lead/influence cross-functional solutions to advance security at Stripe
  • Participate in controversial decision making and issue the final guidance
  • Measure the maturity of our security capabilities and provide a vision for our target operating environment
  • Represent the interests of the Security organization and influence at various levels both within Stripe and when engaging with external parties
  • Connect SMEs to solve critical business problems
  • See beyond the current state of a process or design and guide to more efficient and effective ways of solving problems

Who you are

  • You have persisted through large security transformations and were critical to the success of major advancements
  • You have led/participated in large, complex, material security incidents and know how to make quick and long decisions
  • Discussing security problems and opportunities with Sr. leadership is something you do regularly and do not require coaching to navigate these business interactions
  • You are familiar with modern security implementations but understand how to benchmark a capability and consider compensating measures when setting strategy
  • You are known for building predictable and repeatable processes that help the delivery team and the customer feel successful
  • People enjoy working with you because you deliver on your commitments, remain positive when others are in doubt, and show up for the important moments
  • Your guidance optimizes the best interest of the end customer
  • Broad experience with how regulators, auditors, and other external assessors grade information security programs and how to meet and exceed their expectations
  • You are more than a mentor; you are a teacher
  • People would describe you has having grit and perseverance during challenging periods
