Developer Compliance Specialist, Developer Experience

Developer Compliance is responsible for ensuring the compliance of applications on Discord so that our users can enjoy offerings from third party organizations and developers. As a Developer Compliance Specialist in the Developer Experience department, you will report to the Developer Compliance Lead. Your role will be crucial in identifying and mitigating abusive applications and content violations within the Discord Ecosystem.

Your responsibilities will primarily involve investigating user reports and appeals, identifying and reporting Developer Policy violations, and suggesting effective solutions to these issues. We are looking for someone who has a good understanding of APIs, can identify the root causes of issues and violations, and who can translate technical complexities effectively.

What you'll be doing

• Develop internal tools for detecting and assessing violations in our platform ecosystem.
• Use your technical expertise and sound judgment to review and evaluate user reports and review previous enforcements relevant to our Community Guidelines and Developer Policy.
• Investigate the root causes of issues and violations and suggest solutions.
• Respond to sensitive issues in collaboration with Customer Experience, Legal, Trust & Safety, and PR teams.

What you should have

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education / experience
• You are adept at utilizing APIs and are familiar with programming languages such as Python or JavaScript.
• Capable of discerning risk and following procedures regarding the appeals process.
• Passion for supporting our users and developers with unwavering patience and empathy.
• Ability to translate complicated findings or technical approaches in easy-to-understand ways.
• A desire to work with amazing, passionate people who care deeply about solving challenging problems to keep Discord a safe place for all users.
• Last but not least - a collaborative attitude and natural curiosity.

Bonus Points

• Previous experience enforcing and/or interpreting developer policies.
• Previous experience with Trust and Safety work.
• Cybersecurity and/or privacy certifications, including:
  • CIPP, CIPM or CIPT
  • CISSP or CISA
• Experience in a customer-facing role or in customer service.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $94,000 to $101,000  + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
