About our Engineering Team:
We have around 300 engineers out of roughly 2,500 people in total - and we have big ambitions. There are many interesting challenges ahead, and we're happy for people to move between teams or to specialise, whatever you prefer. As an engineer here you'd be able to work directly with anyone across the company, and we run regular knowledge-sharing sessions so you’ll learn heaps about everything from how banks work to effective communication.

The Security Infrastructure Team is on a mission to make a secure-by-default platform that Monzo engineers use every day, while simultaneously reducing friction so engineers can ship features faster.
As an engineer within Monzo's Security collective, you'll be responsible for helping build solutions that can span cloud and on-premise deployments making sure product teams deliver solutions without friction. We work on the latest technologies and always seek to break new ground.
What will you’ll be doing:
- Helping to secure Monzo's compute, network, data and secrets management infrastructure working on solutions from layer 1 through to 7 and providing a secure foundation for the product team to build upon.
- Spending time understanding Monzo's security requirements before implementing and configuring solutions which could be completely novel or via an integration with something already available.
- Identifying gaps, inefficiencies, and repetitive manual tasks; then building software and systems to help automate and resolve them.
- Improving reliability, quality, and observability of our systems.
- Measuring and optimising system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating to continually improve
- Have the opportunity to make the lives of Monzo Engineers better, by automating the manual tasks they have to complete!

You should apply if
- You are somebody with a strong sense of ownership and integrity demonstrated through clear communication and collaboration.
- You have the ability to design, author, and release code in system-level languages like Go, Python, or Rust.
- You have a drive to automate manual operations and to improve them over time.
- You have hands-on experience managing many diverse systems with configuration management or software delivery platforms.
- You’re really good at troubleshooting and solving unique and complex problems.
- You care deeply about operational excellence - building reliable, stable systems that scale is at the heart of what you do.
- You’re familiar with Microservice Architecture and container orchestration with Kubernetes and Terraform.

The Interview Process:
Our interview process involves three main stages:
- Initial Call
- Take home task or pair coding exercise
- Final interview including a system design and a behavioural interview
Our average process takes around 2-3 weeks but we will always work around your availability.
