Associate Director, Online Threat Monitoring

This position may be based in Washington DC, New York, Houston, or Chicago.

Role purpose

This person will primarily be responsible for a respected and developing segment of the North America Business Intelligence practice, our online threat monitoring and Person of Interest (POI) assessment capabilities. Additionally, this person will help manage public records research and other due diligence and complex investigative matters.

Role tasks and responsibilities

  • This person will manage, conduct and help train junior staff on threat assessments, online threat monitoring and POI investigations, collaborating with in-house specialists to leverage expert tools and capabilities.
  • This person will serve in a leadership role for growing and developing this work within the Business Intelligence practice, including leading client meetings in-person and via videocalls and continually improving the methodologies and presentation for the work.
  • This person will also manage and conduct, as appropriate, US and Canada public records research to support due diligence, litigation support and other complex investigative matters.
  • This person will manage direct reports and will be responsible for helping develop new business and maintaining existing client relationships within and outside the firm.
  • This person will also be encouraged to present at professional events inside and outside Control Risks and author thought leadership on relevant topics.

Requirements

  • College degree in an analytical or relevant technical field of study; Master’s preferred
  • Five to seven years of investigative experience at an investigations firm, within an investigations practice in an advisory firm and/or in-house in a relevant setting conducting/managing threat assessments and US/Canada public record research-based investigations
  • Deep experience/knowledge of cyber threat tools, social media monitoring tools, and standard investigations databases and other resources
  • Demonstrated ability to manage simultaneous investigative matters, investigative teams, clients and subcontractors
  • Professional skills regarding people management, written/oral communication, giving/receiving feedback, team dynamics and organizational change
  • Commitment to helping grow and develop a busy and thriving investigative practice

The base salary range for this position in New York City is $145,000-$155,000 per year. Exact compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This information is provided per the NYC Wage Transparency Law.
