Application Security Intern - Southeast (Remote)

Overview

As an Application Security Intern at GuidePoint Security, you will gain hands-on experience and develop core skills through training, shadowing, and defined projects. While prior directly related experience is not required, we are looking for candidates with technical aptitude, passion for Application Security, and strong communication abilities. 

Coursework in computer science or related fields is preferred but not mandatory. You will work closely with experienced analysts to learn security assessment techniques, tool usage, and remediation best practices. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure to application security and determine if it aligns with your career interests.

Responsibilities

• Shadow and assist security analysts and engineers on assessments.
• Observe and learn how enterprise Application Security SAST, DAST, and SCA tools are used by assisting in validation of scan results, ticketing, and remediation calls.
• Create work items using industry standard ticketing tools like Jira.
• Work on defined tasks to gain hands-on experience.
• Attend trainings and learn about security vulnerabilities.
• Help document processes and write reports.
• Gain exposure to source code reviews.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of application security concepts and tools like SAST, DAST, SCA.
• Familiarity with manual testing tools like Burp Suite, or OWASP ZAP.
• Passion for Web Development, Cyber Security, or Application Security.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Technical aptitude and ability to learn new skills quickly.
• Eastern/Central time zone, preferred.

    While the internship does allow flexible hours, interns will often be required to attend trainings and shadowing opportunities between the hours of 11am - 4pm EST, Monday - Friday.
