Security Engineer III

As our Security Engineer III, you’ll be responsible for supporting the Rackspace Government Services (RGS) Security Engineering toolset. You’ll develop, improve, modify, and assess security architecture in a hosting-based environment. Work Location: Remote based in the United States
Responsibilities
- Analyze security systems and seek improvements on a continuous basis
- Report possible threats or software issues
- Find cost-effective solutions to cybersecurity problems
- Develop best practices and security standards for the organization
- Work in a ticket-based operations model
Qualifications
- Excellent working knowledge of Windows Server and Linux (RHEL) environments
- Excellent troubleshooting skills in Windows Server and Linux
- Scripting with Python and PowerShell
- Ability to prioritize projects
- Comfortable remotely working in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills
- An understanding of best practices and how to implement them at a business-wide level
- At least 5 years of experience in the cybersecurity industry
- US: High School Diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED) required
- Bachelor's Degree in a field related to the role
- At the Manager's discretion, 4 years of additional related experience may substitute for the degree requirement; if substitution is allowed, a regional equivalent to High School Diploma is required.
- Public Trust security clearance, or a willingness to obtain one
- Critical thinking skills and the ability to solve problems independently
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Nice to Haves
- Experience with BigFix and Nessus
- Experience with Change Management processes
- Familiarity with Service Now
- Skill with hardening devices according to STIG
- Familiarity with network devices and their operations
- Delinea and SQL knowledge/experience
- Scripting with Bash, Action Script
